Guarantee it. That’s the corner he’s painted himself into, though. On Feb 15th he’s not going to have a wall. 3 weeks of congressional “negotiations” isn’t going to result in $5.7B for a wall. He said in his speech today that if he didn’t get a security package he liked, the government would either shut down again or he’d declare a national emergency. I don’t see him doing another shutdown, it clearly didn’t work politically, so he’s only got one other option. Unless, of course, congress gives him the wall or he drops it altogether, but if either of those things happen then this whole thing was for nothing and I’m going to move somewhere less insane. ---

Anyone with a law degree or extensive political science knowledge who can game out the various scenarios of an emergency? ---

A bunch of damned legal challenges which, by the very nature of this case, will have to wind its way to the USSC. Then, if they rule in Dotards favor, then a whole bunch of legal challenges in Federal, CA, AZ, NM, and TX courts about property rights, etc. It will never get built. (Anyway, weren’t they going to declare the national emergency this past Saturday?) ---

(bolding mine) If you really think that, you haven’t been paying attention. If you really think that, the turmoil of the next 8-12 years is gonna really surprise you. [Nothing I wrote in this post is untrue today](https://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=19149075&postcount=1). The government does not and has not been working for the majority of Americans for several decades now: it serves the wealthy almost exclusively, most often to the detriment of the masses. That was true 3 years ago when I wrote that OP and it’s still true today. How can you, all of you, not see that? 😕 ---
