I can’t help but wonder if some of the folks in this thread would be jumping our shit if the spoiler had been for one of those shows. ---

Stuff gets filmed all the time that isn’t really in the show. Sometimes it’s done as a prank by the actors/production team, sometimes it’s a different script treatment that isn’t really planned for execution, etc. Sure, it coulda been actual footage, or it coulda been something that was filmed as an alternate storyline, or it coulda been something trashed a while back as unfeasible. Just sayin’. ---

**Sauron** , thanks for trying to make me feel better (if that’s what you were doing). I guess it’s possible, but it hasn’t happened before on the show. The way _The Wire_ is structured – it doesn’t lend itself to even minor changes. Everything’s connected and story lines develop slowly – like they say, all the pieces matter. I can’t see a disciplined writer/producer/director like David Simon going into the season without knowing what he was going to do with this character. ---

[/QUOTE] I’m just trying to let folks know that even disciplined directors/writers/actors shoot stuff sometimes that doesn’t get put into the final version of the episode. I don’t know squat about _The Wire_, so I’m not going to try to figure out if the spoiler was feasible or whatnot. I will tell a brief story from my own fandom, though. I was a big _M_A_S_H\*\* watcher when it was on the air. As the finale approached, there were a number of stories on the national news about the end of the show’s run. One of the news stories (might have been on _60 Minutes_, but I’m not sure) featured interviews with the stars, interspersed with on-set footage of scenes that were being shot. You know, the “camera behind the camera” viewpoint. And at one point, the footage showed a scene in which Hawkeye was saying something to Margaret Houlihan. I forget what he was saying, exactly (hey, it’s been a quarter of a century), but the strong indication was they were going to either get married or be together after the war. Now, that was a serious plot point for the show. Hawkeye and Hot-Lips Houlihan had hated each other, antagonized each other, had a brief fling, and come to a point of mutual respect over the course of the show’s run. But MARRIED? No way. I couldn’t believe they’d do that with the characters, and I couldn’t believe _60 Minutes_ would air that prior to the show’s finale. And you know what? That scene wasn’t in the finale. I don’t know exactly why they were filming it, but it wasn’t part of any storyline. All that to say … maybe what you saw IS gonna happen, but maybe not. And if it’s not, then all this outrage over the spoiler is misplaced. ---

I’m just going to plop my ass in he middle of this thread about a show I don’t really like, to say that people are tiresome with the whole “Ohhhh…it’s just a showwww…there are sooo many more important things in liiifffee”. These kind of people make me wonder if they are so serious about everything that they miss out on the joy of being passionate about the small things. It’s fun! It’s fun to still have some fire about a good book, tv show, new band, what have you. ---

All right kids, listen up. I’ve just gotten back after half a week away, and this fucking thread is bizarre. I just wanted to say this… starting a Pit thread with your own username in it is in poor taste. I keep on seeing it and getting excited about who is pissed off with **Trunk** , and am disappointed again when I see it was **Trunk**. A little originality buddy, c’mon. And I appreciate how we don’t use “fuckwit” in OP’s anymore, but have we had to kill the saying altogether? Meh, continue. ---

I’m serious about very little in life, so I’ll point and laugh at people who get so worked up over “just a TV show”. From my POV, I have fun reading, listening to music, etc., and don’t miss out on anything other than pitching a screaming tantrum the moment something doesn’t go my way. ---
