Well, I’d do a dare, but bear in mind that I’m mostly stealing time from my employer while I’m here, and don’t have facilities to link to embarrassing pictures of myself or whatever. 🙂 I have the fortunate gift of passing for younger than my real age, as borne out a couple of years ago when I was on a choir trip to Gloucester cathedral (a week’s worth of filling in for the regular choir at evening services, and very enjoyable too if somewhat hard work) and the “young adults” were universally convinced I was about 32. 🙂 But I’m regrettably staid. I still read the same motorbike mag as when I was rising 21, but _Bike_’s target demographic has aged with me. Playing second trumpet in a military band is as much an old geezer’s hobby as anything else, and tho’ there are a few young women who play for us, mostly I content myself with being polite, not chasing: I didn’t know how to chase young women twenty years ago, and I’m no more clued up now and with much more potential for making a public embarrassment of myself. Dating? Heh. I should only have the time, the confidence and the opportunity. As for cartoons, I have the excuse of a couple of young sons. Eh, taken all in all I _am_ going gently into that good night. Figure me as forty-five going on seventy. :rolleyes: ---

This particular restaurant had MANY BIG SIGNS proudly proclaiming “WE CARD EVERYONE 39 AND UNDER” (which may or may not be related to the Bush girls getting in trouble at this spot for underage drinking). So we order our drinks… and are disappointed to find that the waitress didn’t even think of carding us. For the record, we are 39 and under. Yes, I know they don’t really mean 39; that’s their excuse for carding lots of people, or at least for trying to look like they’re following the law. It still made me feel old. ---

I’ll do this… but I’ve got to comment on this trend. Forcing five posts of this really kinda derails meaningful participation in the thread. It’s not difficult or embarrassing to do – it’s just a pain. It doesn’t move the game along in any meaningful way. And that’s you should consider buying a Truth-Or-Dare Mulligan. Just as a golf mulligan gives you a free do-over, a Truth-Or-Dare Mulligan lets you take that annoying, non-productive dare and kick it right out of the game. Truth-or-Dare Mulligans are recognized by all major Truth-or-Dare game purveyors, and their use is sanction at the international level. It’s the only way to free yourself from those sticky, repetitive dares that just take time, don’t accomplish anything, and leach your interest from the game. How many can I put you down for? ---

Fire one. Actually, on thinking it over, probably the most childish thing I’ve done lately is get into a “Truth or Dare” thread. I never got invited to parties or sleepovers like that when I was a kid. 🙂 ---
