Funny, I came up with yams (not sweet potatoes).

'Course when I first received this bit of glurge (back in the nineties, sonny boy) the multi-forwarded e-mail listed:

1+13  
2+12  
3+11  
yadda  
6+7  
7+6  
8+5  
yadda  
13+1

Then asked for the vegetable. (and no stupid repeating the number over and freakin’ over)

Of course, if you begin to absentmindedly/rotely(?) say 14, you begin to make a connection with 14 karat (as in gold). Then, when asked for a veggie, you get carrot.

Try this one…
