I first remember seeing this image as an original painting in a gallery at Caesars Palace, probably in the late '70s. I later found it as a poster, probably around 1982 because I remember taking it to college with me and hanging it in my dorm room. I want to find it again, but the poster has long since disappeared. Maybe my description will trip someone’s memory. The painting was done in a heroic, realistic style. It showed a blond, shirtless man (possibly an angel) riding a white winged horse. He’s raising one hand defiantly into the sky. He might have a sword, but I don’t remember. The horse is in the process of going down, maybe down on one knee, and cables or vines are holding it to the ground. The ground itself is very dry/cracked, and the sky is light blue with clouds. I can’t remember if the man had wings too, but I think he might have. The image had a single-word title. I don’t think it was ever a book cover, but it definitely looked like it could have been used as one. Does this ring a bell with anybody? ---
