They dig in their heels and see any kind of compromise as them “backing down” to people as if it is some kind of game. It’s a shame because there are some good people here who are simply modding to try to make the board a better place. Those mods and admins are people who tend not to take themselves or the board too seriously. They don’t look at each negative interaction as a slam against their person or their authority nor do they seek out reasons (sock hunt!) to try to nail people. IMHO, that’s the kind of people you want handling things. That’s why **Xash** is, I think, a respected admin by most. He doesn’t read things with the idea of “what rule have they broken?” but more reading with the idea of answering the question so we can move forward. Just reading the title of this thread lets me know that you’re not going to get a reasonable answer. Won’t happen. Like math, it’s a simple answer: Tuba + question that has an answer where a mistake must be admitted = Not gonna happen in this lifetime You’re only going to continue to frustrate yourself and cause more hard feelings amongst people who agree with you and people who will defend the mods. In the end you’ll be no closer to hearing an answer than you were when you started. Just let it go. Honestly, it really is better for you if you let it go. ---

It’s pretty clear I am talking to specific people who are participating in that discussion. Or better yet, what if the only other people in that thread are A, X, Y, and Z? Either way, these sorts of round-and-round bouts of petty modding and outraged threads about petty moderating could be avoided by a clear and concise set of rules, enforced consistently, while still leaving a bit of leeway for unique circumstances, instead of post-facto rationalizations and conflicting reasons given for each action. ---
