Damn, this does hurt as much as Lynn’s passing. I only interacted with her through a few threads and a couple of adjustments to my account here. But she’d always seemed to be even, careful, took the users’ various rants about the board in stride, and she moved the place forward. I’ve always loved this place since I found it, and she’s responsible for a lot of it. I think if TubaDiva were here to calm us, she’d tell us that we’ll surely find someone who will herd us into a future that we’ll love as much as the one she led us into. And it might be true, but since it’s not coming from her right now, it’s just not that reassuring. My sympathy to all those who new her. We are much poorer to not have her anymore. ---

When the VPN was off, the site would not connect. With the VPN on, the Captcha just does not work. I’m just checking the announcement on the funeral home site now sans vpn. It’s available now and I can read it. Such a sad loss to our community! TubaDiva was definitely one of the better folks on this planet. ---

As a longtime (mostly) lurker, I am deeply saddened by this news. Watching all the care she took in everything she did, there will definitely be a void left here. Heartwarming to see all the old familiar names here, posting condolences. I hope they can return to posting as they used to, to help keep her legacy going. But we will get through this. We always do. Together. ---

I just registered this account so I could join this conversation - it was shared with us in Facebook… I’ve been one of her section mates in the Callanwolde Concert Band for the past decade (though she was also with them waaaaaaay back in the 70’s or 80’s too, before leaving for a while), and we’re looking to do some things to help her family out as well. They do NOT, in fact, have a lot of money, and sadly, it is now on Jenny’s mother to take care of things. I’ll do what I can to pass on information here to help coordinate efforts, but don’t let this stop anyone from acting on their own - we may want in on whatever you decide to do, too. There are a number of communities missing Jenny right now, and if they are anything like us, and like this board is demonstrating with this thread, she knew very well that she was loved and appreciated. -Mark Zickefoose ---

I “met” TubaDiva through the Straight Dope in '98 or so and we quickly discovered we had much in common. A few years later, I was in Atlanta on business so we meet up for dinner one night and discovered we had the same glasses, hair color, taste in books, taste in scotch, and a mutual involvement in car racing. It was crazy funny how often we got mistaken for each other at the racetrack and crazy good how, despite being physically far, we could be there for each other emotionally when needed. She was my doppelganger, my friend, and my soul sister. I will miss her terribly. ---
