Talk about a gut punch! Her service was something I took for granted. I feel awful for not thanking her for all that she did here. I will miss her without even knowing her. ---

Wow, this is just such a gut punch. I never personally interacted with her, but I’ve been lurking around for 15 years or so and I feel like I know her through the many, many posts of hers that I’ve read, particularly in the past few years. It is so clear that she loved this board and did everything in her power to make it better for us. So sad for her family and friends, and a devastating loss for the board as well. RIP Jenny. You did more than anyone could have asked. ---

This is hard to process, even though my personal interaction with Jenny was very limited (I’d won a book in a drawing and we had some conversation about it). There aren’t many people in this modern world who’ve made a genuine difference in the lives of others by being kind, patient, smart, and hard-working–it seems as though the more usual story of difference-making is about connections and/or vicious aggression. I for one believe that an appropriate way to show support and appreciation _(not limited to this if someone creates a GoFundMe for a personal tribute to Jenny)_ is to pay the nominal annual subscription fee for this board. I can’t find where to pay it in this new format, but I think it’s something ridiculously small like $17.00 per year. It is the very least we can do to show that we want the board to continue and thrive. ---

The Straight Dope message board was hugely important to Jenny. But so were other things; her music, pets, juggling, race cars… and most importantly her family and friends. I have never known anyone with so little that gave so much. A huge heart. She was also clever, creative and very, very funny. Rest in Peace, Jenny, (if that’s what a tuba player would want!)
