Many phones allow you to change or disable that fake shutter sound. Mine is set to silent all the time. A while back, I think there was some concern over cameraphone voyeurism that caused some manufacturers to force a shutter sound, but I guess they decided it wasn’t a big deal after all because the option is back in the newer phones I’ve tried… ---

I remember when camera phones first started to get popular, there was a big deal raised about potential privacy invasions… Supposedly the ridiculously loud shutter noise could, in theory I suppose, prevent people from unknowingly taking shots of other people in places like locker rooms and the such… Not sure what happened to it, but I’ve noticed that a lot of cameras seem to have forgotten about that “feature.” ---

The blinkers are silent and after a while left on, they start with a loud chime. Love it.
