I hit 30 this past January, and I had occasional heart lurches followed by recitations of “ohmygodohmygodohmygod” the month before and the month after _the day_. Seven+ months later and it takes me a couple seconds to remember my age. So I’m either ok with it, or my mental faculties are degrading rapidly. Still get carded with regularity, though… ---

Neither 30, 40 or 50 hurt and it wouldn’t have mattered if they did. I couldn’t have done anything about it. I tend to just live each day in a manner that I won’t regret tommorow. ---

Sorry, just had to get a Logan’s Run reference into a turning 30 thread. I dunno, turning 30 didn’t bother me so much as turning 25 did. I think that you have to just get used to the idea that you are not immune from time, but that you can also stay as young as you want to by squeezing as much joy from every day you’re given as you can. ---

Turning thirt doesn’t hurt as long as you slow down before you make the turn. Now “hitting forty”… YOW! I STILL bear the knot on my head from that; and it was two years ago! ---

Thirty and the following decade were great for me. My 30th birthday was 15 years ago, and the 40s are okay too (although my knees hurt), but the 30s were the best so far. Of course society tends to judge aging women a little harder than men. In my opinion, though, most women are at their absolute hottest in their 30s, and often beyond, for both mental and physical reasons. ---

30 is 30. Tell your friends it doesn’t bother you. They may or may not believe you, but you’re on the record as taking in stride. Thirty seems so long ago for me. Try mid/late 40s. That’s another story. But the 30s can be cool. It’s really prime time. You’re taken seriously, and in the big picture, it’s not really old. Enjoy. Go with it! ---

I have no idea what turning 30 is like. I’m fortunate enough to have turned 29 for 6 years in a row now. Maybe this year I’ll turn 30. Have to wait and see. ---

I had my “30 crisis” when I turned 29 actually. MAJORLY F’d up year. I was in relationship turmoil - in truly deep, deep love with a guy for the first time in my life and coming to terms with all that goes along with that. On top of that, I moved three times that year, had four friends die, got my car stolen and about half way through the year realized that I was leaving my twenties, so I cried most of the time. 30 wasn’t even a blip on the radar screen. Come to think of it, 40 wasn’t either. Now I’m four years away from 45 … maybe I’ve gotten over the “milestone birthdays” issue? ---

Thirty was really just another birthday for me. Of course, I hadn’t made myself any big promises about it. So that’s my recommendation - drop the self-imposed deadlines. Keep trying to become the person you truly are, but remember that God’s not holding a stopwatch on you. Unless they come up with the miracle cure to being overweight, or turn into a gym rat, chances are you’ll periodically have weight problems. Learn to love yourself despite them. Chances are that anxiety and depression will poke their head in from time to time, therapy and SSRIs notwithstanding. Learn to roll with the punches as best you can. You’ll always have a wonderfully dirty mind, and barring a change in his attitudes, you’ll want to do things that your husband doesn’t want to do. That’s gotta go somewhere. Keep writing erotica, because that’s as good a way as any to deal with that, and your readers enjoy it. _I_ sure do.
