for the unforgivable reason the Meg Foster played the script she was handed, and some audience feedback was that she seemed “dykey.” Did they rewrite the role and let her adjust her acting accordingly? Nope. She was outta there. The next Cagney had a huge lesbian following, but breeders weren’t made uncomfortable by her closeness to her father, her rapport with men, or her enjoyment of sports, because they made her also just a tiny bit slutty. Not that I’m bitter about it, or had been watching Meg Foster’s career, and thought she’d really earned a big break like that show, and liked her in it.
