Contrary to popular belief, GoBots toys actually predate Transformers in North America by a whole year. The respective animated TV series actually debuted just 9 days apart, but GoBots premiered first, so they’re the “original” in this case, even if they were essentially released the same time. In 1991 Hasbro acquired Tonka, making GoBots their intellectual property.
