Kingpin 8. Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell Nothing to do with the long-running sketch comedy show on NBC. This was on ABC, hosted by Cosell, and produced by Roone Arledge. It proved that while these guys knew how to program sports, they had no idea what to do with an Ed Sullivan-like variety show. It lasted 18 episodes before being cancelled.
