  6. Death Takes a Holiday – MASH

This is the one where the trio tries to keep a gravely-wounded soldier alive until after midnight so “his kids won’t have to think of Christmas as the day their daddy died.” There was also a poignant side-story featuring Charles and Klinger.

-“BB”-

Was that the one where Charles anonymously donates chocolate to an orphanage and finds out later the chocolate was sold on the black market to purchase a large quantity of rice for the children?

Yes.

-“BB”-

That was actually the better part of the episode, I thought: when Charles comes around and says “I gave dessert to children who had not had dinner,” that was one of the most quotable lines on TV ever.

  7. Warrior… Priestess… Tramp – Xena: Warrior Princess

Lucy Lawless has to play three roles as Xena encounters not one, but two lookalikes, and in a couple of scenes plays one lookalike pretending to be another. She is amazing. On top of which a potentially stupid episode is actually very funny.

  9. A Crisis of Faith and Octopus Aliens - Young Sheldon

Mary Cooper experiences a crisis of faith, and Sheldon helps her regain it. I’m not a religious person, but it had me welling up.

Pass.

Along the lines of the previous topic, how about
Shows You Hate, but Episodes You Like

  1. The Facts of Life; “Cousin Geri”

Being a tween/teen in the 70s/80s, I was the target audience for this show, and all my friends liked it. I hated it, but ended up watching it a lot. This episode, however, guest-starring Geri Jewell, I thought was a fantastic way of dealing with having a disabled person in the family, and one that hadn’t been explored before.

  2. Big Bang Theory; The Stockholm Syndrome

Sheldon acknowledges and thanks his friends for his Nobel speech; Penny reveals that she is pregnant. A nice wrap-up to a problematic but very popular show.

  3. The Office, “Customer Survey”

“Hate” is putting it much too strongly, but the show usually just isn’t that funny to me. This is the key exception: 'OUR PRICES HAVE NEVER BEEN LOWER!' - The Office US - YouTube

If I hate a show, I don’t watch it.

  5. The Simpsons, Pixelated and Afraid

I don’t hate the Simpsons but it’s clear that the show is not as good as it has been in years past. There are some gems in recent episodes though, including this one where Homer and Marge reconnect while getting lost on their way to a romantic retreat. “Homer is a clod and Marge kicks him out” has been done several times before so it’s neat to see Homer step up and be at least semi competent and Marge gets to show why she loves him.

What? you don’t have friends?

Just saying, I don’t know what to put in this category, since I don’t watch shows I hate. Can’t share a sample when the sample size is nothing.

  7. I Love Lucy - the “Vitameatavegemin” episode

I don’t actually hate I Love Lucy, but the only way I’d willingly watch it is if I had a TV that only got one channel, and I had nothing better to do when it came on that one channel. Unless it’s the Vitameatavegemin episode, of course.
