Jewish & Gentile might not be quite inter-racial to most people’s way of thinking today, but it was a topic so hot to handle in 1972 that this series was canceled after only one season despite high ratings-- and “inter” enough in most people’s minds that it was the premise for a TV show in the first place. In 1972, the Jewish-gentile marriage rate was at a * shocking * 30%, up from 6% in 1960, which itself was up from 3% in 1950.
