TV Binge Watch (Part 2)

Took me 10 years to notice that.

Well known local horror (and other shows) hosts

  1. Svengoolie - Rich Koz
  2. Elvira - Cassandra Peterson
  3. Joe Bob Briggs - John Irving Bloom
  4. Bozo the Clown - Bob Bell
  5. Count Floyd - Joe Flaherty
  6. Sammy Terry - Bob Carter, now his son Mark
  7. Bill Kennedy - Bill Kennedy at the Movies

A Detroit fixture for years

I never did tumble to it myself. I saw him at a SF/Fantasy convention in Indianapolis and he spoke (in costume) and told stories of how it came to be, and the origin of the name, and how the crew loved to pull pranks on him.

Next: Movies you associate with TV, and not the theater

  1. The Wizard of Oz

it was a yearly event on TV my whole childhood, and I didn’t see it in a theater until I saw the 3D version about 10 years ago

  4. It’s a Wonderful Life

After the copyright lapsed in 1974, it became a holiday broadcast staple.

  2. A Christmas Story
  3. Emil and the Detectives
  4. It’s a Wonderful Life
  5. Godzilla

Or any other monster movie.

TBH, I don’t think I’ve seen more than a couple dozen movies at a theater in my life, including B movies at a drive-in when I was a kid. I do get that somehow movies like Lawrence of Arabia or Gone with the Wind seem like they belong on a big screen even if you’ve only ever watched them on a TV, but that would be a tiny minority for me.

  6. Lord of the Rings

Same for me, although my number is much higher. I went a lot as a kid and teen, not so much as an adult.

Would this be 4 generations, as his (maternal) Grandfather was Peter Maivia?
