Many of the movies that appeared on the program were pilots that lead to successful series (The Six Million Dollar Man, The Love Boat), while others like this failed to launch. On a personal note, Planet Earth referred to men as “dinks”, which girls at my grade school took to calling all boys with great amusement.
The “movie of the week” I’m thinking of is the 1976 version with Jack Klugman, Elizabeth Ashley, & James Franciscus. There is a later US TV version with Mike Farrell, Margot Kidder & Elliot Gould, that is really just as good-- its title is Vanishing Act, but it is very close to the other film, which is also a stage play, and a French film, under yet different titles.
