To be fair, that’s not just me; it’s a known thing that, after lead actor Tony Musante left Toma at the end of its one year, the show’s producers reworked the premise, and cast Robert Blake in the retooled show.

They even say as much in their respective shows.
They both premiered at the same time (September of 1964), and The Addams Family was, of course, based on cartoons which had run in The New Yorker for many years previously. But, due to the similarity in their premises, and the timing, they’re inextricably linked in people’s minds.
