a radio series and then a 6-season TV show starring Frankie Gleason as Riley. The creator of the series sued Gleason and the network, but settled out of court.

The Munsters copied the idea of a monster family from Charles Addams’ cartoons in the New Yorker. The Addams Family aired first, but went into production only after ABC learned about the Munsters going into production. They had already purchased the rights to the characters, but had to have Charles name them. It’s an iffy question.
