My grandmother, the daughter of a lay minister in the Methodist Church, had the bawdiest sense of humor. Watching Mrs. Slocumbe go on about her “pussy” just killed Grandma.

It was hip, it was funny, it taught reading and grammar, and I was in the right age range for it. Also, it started my lifelong crush on Rita Moreno.

My favorite parts where when married lion couple Theo and Cleo cooked together (though they didn’t have the patience to actually heat up the meat) and flirted with each other shamelessly, and of course there were the famous adventures of CLIFF HANGER, HANGING FROM A CLIFF! and Chicken Jane.
