If the latter, I don’t believe that’s true. Conspiracy theories exist because _some people really like conspiracy theories_, not because they have legitimate questions. Recent research has demonstrated that people tend to believe conspiracy theories in bulk, or not (and thus, the people that believe them end up accepting mutually contradictory and incompatible theories - for example, the more people believe that Princess Diana was murdered, the more they also believe that she faked her own death and is still alive) This is further supported by the general nature of the websites promoting conspiracy theories - they very commonly deal with a whole collection of them. ---
