A guy I knew worked in Saudi Arabia and they showed US TV shows that were heavily edited. He said Three’s Company was edited so much most of the plot was missing.

Ah yes, I remember the episode where Mr. Roper thought he overheard Jack confessing that he only performed _salah_ FOUR times daily, and madcap hijinks ensued…

On probably a much lighter side, a Spanish (from Spain) friend of mine and I disagree with the choice of that one travel website who has chosen to censor the spokesman’s addressing a couple with a spanish name.

It is now “Oh, the Hernandez’…”

It used to be "Oh, the Hernandez’z…ezz…

Maybe I’m not typing it right, but the now correct version states the name in plural correctly. The former version adds (I believe) only one syllable to their name because the (anglo) person doesn’t know how to correctly pronounce the spanish (or whatever) name.

Sheesh. Can we take political correctness up another notch please? I’ve got an Irish friend named Mick who hates being called an alcoholic.

Did you see the sign on my door that says, “Dead ethnic gentleman storage?”

Two syllables. Every time the guys says “Hernandezez”, I mentally add “ez ez”.

> At the end of the show Archie did get less bigoted, for example they rented a room to a Hispanic woman after Mike and Gloria moved out.

Archie’s first thought was always selfish and the easy way. The thing is, he was willing to change when he was convinced he was in the wrong. Which was frequently. I saw the show as a child when it first came out. I disliked Archie. I watch it now and Archie is a good human being who when he makes an ignorant mistake, fixes it. Mike, on the other hand, is an asshole.

If you listen close enough, you can still hear the beginning of the missing syllables. 😃

> It’s Mel Brooks. If you take out everything that might offend someone you are left with the opening and closing credits. The best thing about his comedy is that he skewers everyone and anyone.

During the [Kennedy Center honors](http://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/specialevents/honors/index.cfm) broadcast in December, Mel Brooks upstaged his own upstaging (they honored him with a rendition of _Springtime for Hitler_). Mel stood up to receive his accolades and promptly put a comb to his upper lip and issued the Nazi salute.
