It’s kind of telling that when I saw the thread title I had to think pretty hard about what scandal this particular televangelist was famous for. Mainly I just remember a Swaggart with tears in his eyes saying to God, “I have sinned against you.” He’s been married for almost 73 years, so maybe that’s just want evangelist do to keep things spicy. ---

That really isn’t the most flattering photo of him in the video thumbnail in the OP’s link - he looks like he is wearing someone else face as a skin mask. But then flattery is probably a sin anyway, and if it isn’t he deserves none, so be it. ---

The most, perhaps the only, interesting thing about Jimmy Swaggart is he is a cousin of Jerry Lee Lewis. (Their connection to Mickey Gilley is kinda meh imho.) ---

When I still had cable, I was channel surfing and found the SonLife Network. No, it’s not a channel for dyslexic Rush fans, but - you guessed it - 24/7 Swaggart family programming! His son, and one grandson, are preachers too. They also showed old programming, but I can guarantee that they did not show this. Ever. That this was on the heels of the PTL scandal added to the newsworthy factor.
