Note that touching a car’s FM external antenna while “charged”, e.g., from sliding across a seat, is a common way to damage a car radio. (It blows the first transistor in the antenna amp. circuit.)
So, ground yourself first, remove hand from gound, then try Rico’s test. (It may not work if you remain grounded.)
Back before I had cable TV, I always had trouble adjusting the antenna on my TV properly because of this. I would get a perfect picture, and then as soon as I let go the picture quality would drop.
DaveR, there was more discussion about the turn-to-stone rays in the other thread, but basically, it depends on which version of the myth you use. In the standard version, he defeated her by chopping off her head with his sword. The mirrored shield was just so he didn’t have to look directly at her himself: He watched her reflection, instead. One presumes that he had heroic eye-hand coordination to be able to guide a sword blow by watching the reflection in a mirror.
I recently discovered that my webcam can see infra red (most cmos imaging chips can, apparently - there’s a nice little experiment for anyone to do at home; can your webcam see the IR emission from your TV remote? Can it see the emission when reflected in a mirror? (the answer to both questions will be the same)
