I liked the theme to Alice when I was little. How weird. Also on Nick at night they used to show the Patty Duke Show. The theme was the preposterous set up for the premise of the show… But they’re cousins, Identical cousins all the way. One pair of matching bookends, Different as night and day. Where Cathy adores a minuet, The Ballet Russes, and crepe suzette, Our Patty loves to rock and roll, A hot dog makes her lose control – What a wild duet! Ok …they were struggling for shows in those days. ---

One of the funniest theme songs, that I just loved, was the theme to the “Garry Shandling Show” on Fox - too funny! “This is the theme to Garry’s show, the opening theme to Garry’s show, Garry called me up and asked if I would write his theme song…I’m almost halfway finished…” Very cool 🙂 Of course The Honeymooners and I Love Lucy! ---

**Fern** - was walking around this morning at work singing _Welcome Back Kotter_. I probably shouldn’t tell anybody that. \*Northern Exposure \* had a catchy one. I actually found a book at a flea market that had all the songs used in every NE episode by title and artist. Picked it up for $1. Of course, I haven’t even opened it since I got it. M_A_S\*H is an all time favorite - without the lyrics _Barney Miller_ and _Night Court_ were both fretty funky with the bass. ---

I don’t watch tv much now but throughout my life I’ve loved (and hated) a number of tv show themes. Favorites: The greatest american hero Cheers Alien Nation (sung in an alien language!) Ed (I’ve never watched this show and don’t know if they even still use it, but I remember reading that the theme was a Foo Fighters song. This is a plus in my book!) Happy Days Laverne & Shirley Least favorites: Family matters Full House Perfect Strangers (great show, awful theme song sounds like it was trying to rip off the laverne & Shirley song of a decade or so earlier) Step By Step (why did all those “tgif” shows have such awful music? Why was it all written and sung, apparently, by the same people?) Growing Pains Three’s Company Friends And my least favorite of all… All in the Family! I know it was supposed to sound like they were just two people in their house singing a song, but my god how annoying it sounded! ---

I’d vote for The Sopranos as the best. Hated the show, but I thought Ally McBeal had a good opener. Ditto 90210. Smallville. Very good opener. Decent show. Also liked Miami Vice. Great opener. Very underated show. ---

Here’s a vote for The Addams Family. I’ll ditto Smallville, Firefly, MST3K, Greatest American Hero, Barney Miller, and Sanford and Son. The fiancee votes for John Doe as well. The Love Boat theme stinks on ice. ---
