Ya know, the thread where it happened is still on the front page of the BBQ forum. Guess, if I’d tripped over ‘banned’ under his name, and came to the Pit to ask why, I’d probably notice and check out the thread that is locked w/him as the OP. But that’s just me. ---

To all of **Aide’s** detractors, I am willing to defend him. He brought colour, rigour and no little genuine knowledge and insight to these boards, which I believe are a poorer place without him. However, first a note to **Aide** himself should he be reading. Well, old chap, it has come to this. I had hoped that you might see me, if not as a friend, then at least as being on the same side, such that if _even I_ was gently advising you to get a grip, then you might listen. Your debating technique was at best frustrating and time-wasting and at worst underhand and attention-seeking. Your _modus operandi_ was thus:[ul][li]First make a vague statement which in no way sets out your position clearly.[_]Upon being asked to state your position plainy and succinctly, either weasel and squirm amongst a barrowload of red herrings or simply disagree with something in the questioner’s post.[_]When the _actual_ point of divergence of opinions is eventually identified, with very little help from yourself, inform your opponent that you are actually using critically important language in a non-standard way, and pretend that it was always _obvious_ that this was the case.[_]Dismiss genuine attempts to unravel this linguistic spaghetti with trite and vacuous comebacks intended to belittle the poster rather than edify. [_]When further requested to say what you really mean, grandstand ever more hysterically: “Ladies and gentlemen, look at _this_ quote!”[_]Repeat these steps ad nauseam until the opponent tires of trying to build a solid sandcastle of debate, only for you to kick it down like a petulant infant, and leaves.[_] Immediately display all the dignity and good grace of said spoiled brat by blatantly misrepresenting their position in a summary designed solely to goad them back into building you another sandcastle. But if you cannot master rudimentary patience, good grace and respect for others, there will be few who remain long enough to call you “friend”. So long, friend. **SentientMeat** , I was all set to disagree with you, given your introduction, but in sum, that was a remarkably astute read on the not-so-comic stylings of one Mr. **Aide**. My feelings are presented with quite a bit less thoughtfulness and consideration. **TVAA** was a thin breaded coating of intelligence covering a remarkably dense fucknugget. I readily admit to a high degree of bias stemming from the distasteful interactions I had with him, but the occasions upon which I was able to muster up some sympathies for the poor wretch lasted for only a brief and shining moment until he would simply blow that all away with another **TVAA** special delivery. And finally, this morning I thought the day seemed brighter, the atmosphere a little lighter this morning. Huzzah! Hooray! ---
