Just a wild guess, but I’d say because it had degenerated to nothing more than a slapfest at the end. The posts on the last page all looked pretty pointless and waaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic. ---

One can hardly say it got off topic. The thread was a bitchfest about Liberal and ten pages later people were still bitching about Liberal. I have seen threads like this closed before, but the denouement is usually a banning of the thread topic. Pity that. ---

Well, maybe because he claims he’s dying? If he is, I feel bad for him. If he’s not, and it’s some existential bullshit, then he’s a fucking asshole. ---

There really wasn’t any real point in keeping it open beyond the first few hours. **Biggirl** complained that a thread had been closed. Some seven hours later, it was open again. Anything beyond that was a hijack on the road to Trainwreck City; population: That thread. Didn’t even make it halfway through page two before it was moot. And following post #396 it reached critical mass for self-sustained putrefaction. I gave the middle portion of the thread a miss, but I did have a look at the last full page _et seq_. I think **Veb** ’s instincts served her, and the rest of us, well. MHO. ---

I find it mildly ironic that the linked thread was complaining about how a thread was closed after **Liberal** hijacked it and then got closed as a result of **Liberal** ’s posting a cryptic but vivid off-topic comment that pulled the thread into an entirely different direction. Unfortunately, the mercy killing of the thread probably was necessary. ---

Uh huh. Since it happened after me, it had to be because of me, didn’t it. It could not possibly have been because of the off-topic and relentless belching of unsolicited [del]condemnation[/del] advice that dragged on for page after page. I wish I had your powers of logic so that I, too, could perceive things in strange and wonderful ways. Using your reasoning, I might say that the thread was closed because Spiritus came to my defense. ---

It was very easy to see where the train was heading from the beginning. Dunno why it wasn’t closed back then. Still, that’s quite an amusing ass ya got there Lib, you shouldn’t show it so often. ---
