Twenty Days Has October Rants - The Rest Are On Furlough

I think the name is the best part of it. {Preens}

I have leftover Halloween candy. Frick.

We WOULD if some high schooler hadn’t grabbed almost all the candy out of the basket (of FULL-SIZE candy bars). My wife was so flabbergasted she didn’t react until he was long gone into the night…

("Well, officer, he should be easy to find-- he looked just like The Dread Pirate Roberts…
Yes, come to think of it, it might have been a disguise…)

Ha, in your face, cheaters! I’m posting in the October thread until midnight Central Time.

This is why I just hand the kids each a handful of candy instead of letting them take it themselves.

It’s only 7:45 here, but we have a ton of candy left. Very small turn out this year. I’m kind of bummed. Every single kid so far was extremely polite, with teenagers being the most polite and friendly, and little kids being more on the shy side.

The teens who showed up were remarkably polite. My fav was the large chicken costume and her mom the egg standing next to her. I suppose in that case the egg really did come before the chicken.

The little kids were so adorable I literally squee’ed. The local ladybug and a certain tiny peacock were so cute I am sorry I did not have my digital camera at the ready. My girls went as Grumpy Tinkerbell (she was upset I only let her have a single piece of candy before she left) and Fairy Cinderella with the leftover headpiece from last year’s medieval princess costume. I found them matching silver shoes. I had to go girly to make up for the fact that the little one won third best boy’s costume at last year’s trunk or treat complete with trophy.

After Sandy and the October Snowstorm I’m just glad we had Halloween on Halloween instead of downed power lines, flooded basements and wet snow.

A small boy turned up at my door dressed as a policeman. I asked him if I was under arrest and he said “yes. I have a flashlight.” Well, what could I do but surrender all the candy. I mean, a flashlight!

We didn’t have too many bigger kids/teens this year. I figured that it’s because the little kids want to go trick-or-treating no matter what, but perhaps the older kids saw how rainy it was and decided not to bother going out.

I gave most of the kids quite a bit of candy - I figured that they wouldn’t be out as late as they might be if it wasn’t raining, so I figured they should get extra candy.

I have to drag my posterior off to school soon. Bleh.
