Rum is unusual. Many Caribbean countries claim that their rum is the best rum. Fist fights in bars have started over this. Many fist fights. My best wish for you is that you remember which rum it is that you like ( and is on sale ). This is not me being ‘Evil’ to you. This is me wishing to you your Best Life. ( Cue hateful idiots to Sashay In, hands on hips, and spew crap all over my Xmas Wishes, and then Sashay Out back to ‘shitty troll’ land.. ) ---

Rascal passed on this morning. Apparently he developed an infection on two of his paws, along with kidney problems. The vet said due to his age there was little they could do. He’s with his twin brother now. ---

I spoke to my friend who had taken custody of Rascal last night, and at one point in the conversation found out that she felt partly responsible for his death. I had to reassure her that 1) I did not think she was in any way responsible and 2) she had done everything she could to make his last days as good as possible. As proof of the latter, I reminded her that she had been giving him special foods to try to help him gain weight. I do miss him. I will be getting a pawprint reminder of him. ---

I got viral gastroenteritis to ring in the New Year! Boy did that suck. I was in such bad shape my husband had to cancel all his clients and come home to take care of our kid. I could barely dress myself much less feed him. I’m still not able to eat, but today is so much better than yesterday’s misery of stabbing pains and temperature regulation hell, I’ve been able to do a crossword puzzle and read a few articles. Mostly just tired - and hungry! Very sorry for your loss, @LurkMeister. My kitty died in 2020 and I still miss him. ---

It’s been in the mid 70s here in Memphis for the past week. Awesome for the heating bill. But Sunday night it’s going to drop 40 degrees with the high on Monday at 35. I’ve been retired for 6 years and have managed not to leave the house when it’s that cold all this time. I haven’t worn my wool coat since then. But Monday I have a doctor’s appointment and can’t change it since I’m having an issue that requires some blood work to be done asap. Damn it. I was hoping to never break my streak. I hate being outside in freezing weather. Got to find my scarf and gloves. ---

What makes this a little worse is that this is the third time I haven’t been able to be with one of my cats when they died. Rascal, for obvious reasons. His brother, Mischief, had to be put to sleep while he was being boarded; I had expected this, as he had not been eating for a few days before I took him in, but I had hoped the vet would be able to help him. And a number of years back I had been at a local convention when Fancy started choking; a friend took her to a vet but it turned out the choking was caused by a tumor which was inoperable. ---

It’s the fifth day of Christmas, not even halfway through the holiday. A perfectly appropriate time, as opposed to before Advent. If people didn’t gorge themselves on Christmas early, they wouldn’t be so ready to end it early. ---
