If Ed Zotti came in here and told you to just shut the fuck up already, I would have no problem with that. If you went to a grocery store and were told by the manager to just shut the fuck up already, I \*would \*have a problem with that - because they’re _different types of organizations_. ---

It looks like I may be the only one here to jump on Oakminsters side… sort of. A mod saying “knock this shit off” is at best unnecessary. I think it’s somewhat rude too. I have no problems with mods doing their business. As a matter of fact I had a thread (temporarily) closed. The mod in question sent me a private message explaining what was going on, and was very pleasant. I apologized for my wrong doing and basically stated that I hoped everything turned out in my favor. There’s a rule here in the board that says “don’t be a jerk.” That applies to mods too. I’m guessing 99% of the time the mods are not jerks or rude; but geez we’re all human. I think you’re being a jerk and rude by bringing this up in an open forum. Why not just PM the mod and say “was that really necessary? All you had to do was ask me to stop.” Or something like that. ---

A moderator swearing at posters seems analogous to a store employee swearing at customers. Both seem likely to adversely affect the business interests of the employer. ---

The message board started and thrived with all sorts of feisty moderation – it was certainly one of the attractions for me when I first found it. To now demand a sterile “excellence in customer service” model is a recipe for putting an unnecessary burden on volunteer mods to please an imaginary population. ---

I do object to the manner in which she took that action. Specifically to her saying “Don’t pull this shit in MPSIMS”. She doesn’t need to say that to enforce the rules. It’s extraneous, and adds no value to her ruling. ---
