But the government does have a responsibility to try and still one of it citizens carrying out an act of aggression on a foreign country as a private endeavor. Primarily because no one will believe it was just a private endeavor and not supported by the US government. ---

Even with THIS administration, I highly doubt anyone would think that two yahoos from Texas attempting to “invade” an island in Haiti were doing it at the behest of the US Government. ---

None at all from the French or Spanish (who did most of the enslaving) who were also there at the time they achieved independence? Or the native population who lived there before them? While their ancestry may be predominantly African for the most part, it’s not exclusively so. Though I would have little pity for anybody who actually thought they could roll in and treat the current residents as primitive natives to be exploited. Armored horses, and large, aggressive dogs - neither of which had ever been seen before. The men were _on_ the horses, and the fearsome dogs obeyed commands - this made the average soldier appear as a God. ---
