no there is still analog cable service for many people. digital cable is higher priced and often uses a digital cable box from the cable company.
the DTV switch of 2009 was only for full power over the air broadcast (radio waves and antennas).
A converter box is self-contained and doesn’t broadcast back to a cable company.
