Malaysia and Singapore have [Kopitiam](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopitiam)s, which translates as “Coffee Shop”. As well as coffee quite unlike what Westerners would expect, they also do basic meals too. ---

Russia has pancake restaurants/cafes (don’t ask me what they called them). Austria has coffee houses (nothing like Starbucks) The UK has fish and chip bars (known as ‘chippy’s’), mostly take away. ---
