I just get the job done and move on to more useful things. I’d rather have intimacy with an actual person, of course, so I really only masturbate when I’m not getting any/as much as I’d like 😉 When I was younger I went in for the whole ballgame - fantasizing, etc. Now it’s really more like a quick 5 minute thing. ---

Okay, I get that now. I was distracted by the fact that eating one M&M isn’t satisfying at all and you need to have more to feel like it was worth eating M&Ms in the first place. That analogy falls apart right away. ---

Oreos do seem to work better than M&Ms for that analogy. And when it comes to snack food and female satiation, I think Mars Bars work best of all. ---

The hubcap thing- what I figured it meant was you can polish your hubcap (on your car) until the chrome is clean and shiny and consider it done, but you can continue polishing it, even though it’s not going to get any more clean and shiny than if you had stopped a while ago, but maybe you just enjoy polishing it. Relating it to masturbation, when a guy’s done, he’s done. He can’t keep ‘polishing’ it even if he wanted to, at least not without a refractory period. But a woman can get to the point where she’s ‘done’, but if she feels like polishing it some more, she can do so (some women, anyway), and even though she might orgasm again, she won’t be any more ‘done’ (in theory) than she was the first time. At least, I think that’s what it might mean. ---

Agreed (ETA: with **corkboard** ). The idea would be that a man is “done” fairly obviously, but a woman isn’t. Of course, plenty of women come just the once when jilling off, but it’s not readily apparent that this should be the case. Perhaps Freud was not so very far from the truth with the business about clitoral versus vaginal orgasms - just in attributing “maturity” to one and not the other. IME once a woman’s had one clitoral orgasm she’s not ready for another one for some while, but she might like one either as the first of several or as the main event during sex. I thought it was pretty well established that there is no such thing as a clitoral versus vaginal orgasm, that all parts of the vulva are incorporated during every orgasm. And that pretty much all orgasms require some clitoral stimulation, even if indirect. In my experience, even though I pretty much just masturbate with my clitoris directly, I do feel pulsations in my clit and vagina. And I’m also capable of multiples… ---

I would usually bring her to orgasm clitorally several times, then switch to her g-spot when those returns began to diminish, then start over again. This could go on for some time, often several hours. OTOH, the woman I’m with now doesn’t have orgasms from clitoral stimulation. It’s “nice”, but the A-spot is–very reliably–her thing. And she’s utterly not up for the hours-and-hours thing. One’s usually good, three or four if all the stars line up. On yet a third hand, I was in a LTR with a woman in college who could have at least mild orgasms from light, rhythmic stroking practically anywhere sensitive. Small of her back, nape of her neck, breasts, you name it. Neither g nor a spot did anything for her. Like I said, every woman is different–often startlingly so. ---

Heh. I thought the A-spot was the chocolate starfish. Regarding “indirect” stimulation of the clit necessary to produce orgasm, I disagree. No, I’m not a woman, but I’ve had my fair share of hands-on experience, thank you very much. And I’ve been with women who can orgasm without any contact with the clit from either of us. My wife, for instance, can orgasm if all I do is suck on her nipples- no humping/grinding/jilling or any pelvic-area contact at all. ---

I’m not sure I understand why guys tend to go through so much trouble to masturbate. Just put your finger on the special spot near the bottom, and make up and down or circular motions. If it’s been a while, you may have to tense up a bit towards the end, but none of this of this furious up-and-down motion with a semi closed fist. All it takes is a finger or two. ---

Without giving much detail on how I take matters in hand, I find that spending time at it feels much more intense as a rule, though there are times if I’m in the right mental place where doing it quickly can be pretty intense as well. I do hate wasting my time on orgasms that merely feel competent, since at my age, it will be a couple of days before I get a full head of steam(en) back up. One thing I will say though. I was on prozac for about 10 years, and after quitting it, I refound a libido I thought had long since departed. That was pretty nice. ---
