# Typical SDMB Threads

The Christian/theist ‘gotcha’ threads are almost the worst.

About once a week, someone feels the need to declare why they are an atheist, why X doesn’t make sense, or whatever. It starts of as **now, let me just preface this with my background** , and **this nonsensical thing is really bothering me** so **can you all please back me up here on the obvious**? _Yay, I joined the Strong Atheist Club_!

Everytime I see one of those, I think, _yeah, that’s a stupid thread, we’ve beat that dead horse_ and yet it always gets 2-3 pages of replies.

Another annoyance is when something major is happening - someone died, or something happened in the election or whatever is dominating the news cycle - and there has to be 13 threads about it, with each threadmaker thinking they were more unique and introspective than the last. I mean; really? I know this his commonplace at most message boards, but Dopers are supposed to be a cut above the rest.
