# Typology roundup: the political compass, MBTI, belief-o-matic, and political gauge

On the [political compass](http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalcompass/) I was slightly more left and less libertarian than Nelson Mandela (you can see how many world leaders past and present compare [here](http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalcompass/analysis2.php)). They address the issue of…being left and “libertarian” in their FAQ:

Exact score: Left: -6.00 and Libertarian: -4.31
The [political guage](http://www.politicalbrew.com/politest.cgi) says, \*On Non-Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Strong Liberal (17). \* and _On Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Strong Liberal (14)._ (with the scale being 0 liberal and 100 conservative.
You can’t really take the MBTI on the Internet, but there’s links to a bunch of fake ones on the bottom of [this page](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MBTI). Mine is ISTP. This is in line with the political tests above because in one definition we were described as “egalitarian”…not in a political context but it lines up well. (You can take a version on the BBC website [here](http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/whatamilike/index.shtml). It uses different letters to avoid copyright violation but it’s the same thing.)

MBTI - I’ve taken the official thing twice for previous jobs. Both times I was an ISTJ, although my I was significantly less pronounced the second time around - I hit borderline E (which makes sense - I now gain more energy being around others than being alone, but I still like my alone time as well).

Political Compass: Economic -4.25/Social -6.92
Political Gauge: On Non-Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Strong Liberal (9), on Fiscal Issues, you rank as a Moderate Liberal (36). (I really didn’t think I’d come out so libertarian. It must be that ranking system they used, I hate tests that use that.)
MBTI: Never taken it “for real” but on online tests I’m an INTJ.
Beliefnet: I forget what the exact percentages were but I know I came out as a secular humanist. Which is essentially correct.

Political Compass – exact score **-9.88 economic (left)/-8.72 social (libertarian)**
(That puts me in a quadrant with Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama – I think I’m quite comfortable there :))
Political Gauge: **Strong liberal on both sides (8 for non-fiscal, 11 for fiscal)**
(That one’s very American – I tried to translate it, but it some things just don’t work very well in a different political context)
MBTI: I always get **INFJ** on these things, without exception. Tried it again, and yep – that’s what I got.
And the Belief-o-matic:

Politcal Compass - I don’t remember, but I’m right there with the Dalai Lama.
MBTI - Always ENTP, with “T” being the strongest component and “N” a close second.

Pretty close to The Dalai Lama. I can live with that.

Funny, I would have thought I’d closer to Buddhism & Taoism, than Christian Protestant. But I guess agnosticism kind of defeats the purpose. Not surprised at all by the 100% Unitarian. I feel very comfortable with that.
