U.S. Army Criminal Investigation laboratory – Mickey Mouse in coat of arms?!

As early as the 1940’s “Mickey Mousing” was used as a negative term for film music that too-closely mimicked character action.

Sayeret Matkal, the Israeli army’s most elite infantry unit (analogous to SAS or Delta) is so secretive that it doesn’t have an official patch; however, there’s a longstanding IDF rumor that its unofficial, top-secret patch features the Little Prince.

Great. So you’re a terrorist in your hideout. Suddenly all the doors and windows are smashed open and people come running in singing the Mickey Mouse Club theme:

Who’s the leader of the club that’s made for you and me?

M I C

[Burst of gunfire]

K E Y

[Burst of gunfire]

M O U S E

[Enormous amount of gunfire killing everyone in the hideout]

They do still exist, although they are now the 449th Air Expeditionary Group. And proving that somebody in the Pentagon had a keen sense of irony, the unit is currently stationed in Africa (at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti).

The patch, of course, is no longer in use (their current patch). I’d guess the patch I linked to was from back in the WWII-era. It was, as the cliche goes, a different time.
