U.S. Dopers: what are your uninformed impressions of other states?

Mrs. Nott just read this thread, and she told me a Texas story. She worked with a woman whose father, a Texan, was a military guy stationed in Oklahoma when his daughter’s birth was nearing. He pleaded with his wife to drive a long way so his daughter could be born a Texan! He lost the argument, but he still loves his daughter.

That reminds me of an episode of King of the Hill in which Hank is alienated by his lifelong friends when they (as well as Hank) learn he was born prematurely while his parents were on vacation in NYC and is thus 1- not a true Texan and 2- is ineligible to buy the “Son of Texas” license plate holder that he wants.
