I believe Van Buren only ran twice, won in 1836; lost bid for re-election in 1840 to WH Harrison.

Two other Presidents on the ballot three times: Andrew Jackson, lost to JQ Adams in 1824; defeated Adams in the rematch and subsequently re-elected in 1832.

And how quickly we forget Tricky Dick Nixon 1960, 1968 & 1972

1. What was Alexander Graham Bell’s principal assistant’s name at the time of his breakthrough with the telephone?
Watson- Thomas, I believe

2. In what three states did Thomas Edison mainly conduct research?
New Jersey, New York and Ohio?

3. The first controlled nuclear reaction took place in what American city?
Chicago, at the University thereof.

Van Buren also ran third party in 1848.

I know Washington and FDR oversaw the most appointments during their incumbency, so I’ll take a stab at FDR.
