I don’t believe he ever gave 9/11 as a reason for invading Iraq. Come to think of it, I’ve heard a lot of leftists say this, but I’ve never seen a damned one of you back it up.
Right. “leftists” made up the whole “axis of evil” thing.

**Regardless, Bush invaded Iraq, for which I don’t care whether they had soda pop or anthrax, and good riddance to an unholy abomination o’er the land. That said, there is still strong evidence that Saddam was pursuing a small, but nasty chemical weapons program. **
And that evidence would be what? A flat-out lie from Bush that a couple of trailers used to produce hydrogen were really mobile anthrax plants?

Bush has never explicitly said that Iraq was responsible for 9/11 – even he’s not brazen enough for that lie, I suppose – but he’s sure as hell implied it every chance he gets.
Here are some recent quotes, from Bush’s victory speech on the USS Abraham Lincoln:
“The battle of Iraq is one victory in a war on terror that began on September the 11, 2001 - and still goes on.”
“The liberation of Iraq is a crucial advance in the campaign against terror. We’ve removed an ally of al Qaeda, and cut off a source of terrorist funding.”
“Our war against terror is proceeding according to principles that I have made clear to all: Any person involved in committing or planning terrorist attacks against the American people becomes an enemy of this country, and a target of American justice. Any person, organization, or government that supports, protects, or harbors terrorists is complicit in the murder of the innocent, and equally guilty of terrorist crimes. Any outlaw regime that has ties to terrorist groups and seeks or possesses weapons of mass destruction is a grave danger to the civilized world - and will be confronted.”
