U.S. to ban food products made from hemp

Let’s be realistic, here. The only reason hemp is championed at all is due to its relation to smokeable marijuana. When was the last time you saw neo-hippies (those bastions of proper nutrition) pushing another plant product? While I agree that the attention paid to the plant by our federal government is ridiculous, let’s not kid ourselves into thinking people like hemp because of its strong fibers and taste. This always struck me as cynical; if you want pot legalized, say it! None of this industrial–hemp BS. Stand up and say “I WANT THE CANNIBAS PLANT LEGALIZED SO I CAN SMOKE IT AND GET HIGH!”. Thus ends my small sub-rant.

I WANT THE CANNABIS PLANT LEGALIZED SO I CAN SMOKE IT AND GET HIGH!

and who are you to stop me?

OCC said more or less what Cecil said- folks want “hemp” products becuase they want to smoke dope. Look- I have no problem if you folks want to legalize marijuana. But lets be honest- nobody waers hemp shirts because they are better than cotton- they wear hemp as a 'statement", and because it is 'cool". Same thing with hemp as a food product.

Like Amaranth, Soy, Granola, Bran, Wheat Grass, or Nutrional Yeast? ummmm… yeah…

And like I pointed out, hemp is a flavoring agent with a unique flavor. So :stuck_out_tongue:
