[Sgt. Joe Friday] It was Monday July 14th, and it was hot in Los Angeles. [/Sgt. Joe Friday] The building managers only have to support their tennants during certain hours, so the air conditioning that had been off all weekend was not up to the task of keepong things cool. It was 76°F in my cubicle this morning, eventually rising to 78°F. It was hot and a little muggy when I went to the parking lot at lunch. I had to pick up a package at the Post Office. (Why didn’t they just give it to me on Saturday? I _was home!_) Having ridden the motorcycle, I had to stand in line in my leather jacket. When I got home my shirt was damp. It’s too hot in my un-air-conditioned apartment. If anyone in the Seattle area wants to trade jobs and homes, I’ll gladly do it! ---

Ummm…it’s been hot in the Seattle area too. We did get a little rain (FINALLY!), yesterday; but today has been muggy and warm. It’s supposed to keep warming up this week too. ---

You’re complaining about AC at 76 or 78? Wow, you are spoiled. We have trouble getting our AC below that, without it running full-time, and we won’t even discuss humidity. And the temp has been lower than usual today thanks to Claudette’s influence, below 90 for the first time since the last storm that came through a couple weeks ago. When we go OUTSIDE our shirts get damp. Count your blessings! ---

I wish I could make my AC work, and I’m in the Valley. It is currently 87 degrees inside my house. Yes, I’ve got a repairman coming on Wednesday, but that’s just not quick enough. Ugh. I should move into the pool. ---

I’ll trade you some of our cold for your hot… It’s bloody freezing here - well, actually not freezing, but my breath fogs and I get cold fingers… What do you say we split the difference? It’s around 54 outside at the moment here… ---

**Mama Tiger** : I once worked on a film in New Orleans. In August. And the a/c was too noisy to use. And the house I was staying in only had a small a/c in the room. Nah, 54 is a bit on the nippy side for me… besides, it’s all grey and drab, and in the mornings its even colder… And the wind rips right through you… I miss summer. ---

Let’s see: outside high temperature today: 100 degrees, give or take adding 10 for the “heat humidity index”. Inside my hacienda: 72 degrees. Oh, yeah, baby. This time of the year in Texas, you RUN from your climate-controlled office to your car - and hope like hell that A/C kicks in fast. Damn, it’s hot. ---

While in Seattle last week I took a side trip to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. BFM! (big f’n mistake). It was in the 90’s & rising, & felt humid by the lake. ☹ Seems hot all over. ---

I’m working in Hillah Iraq setting up an office for our project. Until I can get the generator on line, no AC and if it gets down to 110f it feels cool. 5 minutes after taking a shower, I’m so sweaty it’s like I never bathed. 3 of us living in the one room that has a ceiling fan, it’s getting a little ripe in here. ---

_Can’t beat Iraq_ But it’s hot. **Sleeping** : Under your usual duvet: Too hot. Just a sheet: Too cold. Getting up in the middle of the night to put on your pajamas: Too hot. Laying a variety of T shirts, blankets, swim suits and fur coats next to your bed and finally falling to sleep. Neighbours having a party… Bad thing is: It’s getting hotter every year. The average temperatures in the Netherlands are those of the Cote d’Azur 10 years ago. I need my _winters_ and normal summers. Time to move up north. ---

Monday, July 14th, Palm Springs CA. Temperature: 119 degrees Humidity: 34% Dew Point: 82 degrees Heat Index (feels like): 150 degrees I am not making this up. It is 97 degrees right now at 11 PM. These are the nights when sneaking out onto the golf course and sleeping on the grass/under the sprinklers is very tempting. ---

It was in the 80’s here today, sunny and humid. I went out at about 2 in the afternoon, for about an hour, when I came home, I had to shower again so I could go out again at 5. I hate it when it is this hot. I don’t mind low it in the 70’s and mo humidity. ---

**beckwall** , yikes! I have been complaining for a week now about the heat, but I promise I never will again after reading your post. Heat index 150 degrees? Ugh. We’ve been having a little heat wave here in New Mexico, the high was about 100 degrees (with humidity in the teens) at my house, and I’m up at 6,000 feet, so this is sorta unusual. I don’t have AC or a swamp cooler, so I have been going outside every so often and wetting down my hair with the hose! It feels great! (Thank God for my adobe house.) ---

It was nice today, mid 80s here, at least when I checked. Clear blue sky. And me inside in the AC, sipping a cool, cool drink. After years of New Orleans “summers”, it’s nice to be in a place where the air doesn’t feel like hot peanut butter. ---
