# Uh-oh! Not this. Well, it’s happened. I knew it would, eventually. It just the way my brain works. What atonished me was the lucidity if it. I DREAMT OF THE DOPE! I’ve been sleeping poorly, no surprise there. Usually my dreams are snippets of things I’ve been thinking while awake. Sometimes the odd dream of the past, reimagined. Here’s the dream (analyse it if you must:)) I’m walking in a narrow corridor, way at the end is a guy sitting at a desk looking at a book. This person is someone I vaguely know. I’m trying get a better look. So I run a few steps, but get bogged down in a squisy floor. A door in my left, I look in and see Dropzone flirting with a Nurse from his hospital bed. Hmmm! I run a few more steps til the floor stops me, open door, I look in Sunny Daze is unpacking boxes. Same, run, stopped look in a open door: ~Vow is chasing 3 meeces with a cleaver. Run, stopped, look in: Spoons is sitting at a bar, talking excitedly to a group of onlookers Run, stopped, look in: uh-oh a group of Mods are huddled in a circle talking about super sekrit things. TubaDiva slams the door in my face. I look down the corridor, I’m not any closer to the end. My feet are completely stuck in the squishy floor. I look down and see dachshunds are running around my ankles. Someone is calling them. I look up and see Gatopescado poking his head out of a door. I try to walk again. It’s very difficult. In the next open door I see Nelliebly on her computer. And Panache is in there sitting at a table and laughing at someome unseen. I don’t know how I know who’s who. But I did. Weird. ---

I was probably on the SDMB, looking for you, Beck. Maybe that’s why Panache was laughing. “Hahaha, Nellie, she’s squishing down the hall, you dope!” Or maybe we had a lot of corn dogs and a tank of nitrous oxide and I was PMing you an invitation to join the party. I don’t know what your dream means, Beck, but I think we’ll be bunkies at the looney bin. Has anyone noticed that Dopers only appear in other Dopers’ dreams _if they are logged onto SDMB_ at the time? The entire roster of the Dope has merged, slime-mold-like, into one amorphous Hive Mind, which is itself, in fact, the so-called “hamster powered” dream-sharing server on which the Dope runs and in which the entire corpus of Dope post resides. That’s why, often in the nighttime (for North American time zones at least), when someone is having a sleepless night, others have so much trouble logging in or posting posts. For example, every time someone wakes up in the night to go pee, others start getting “Server Error 501 Try again” errors. ---

My dreams are random and guided by dream logic. If a dream is not particularly noteworthy or disturbing, I usually forget them within moments of waking up. I have like three dreams in my whole life that were so compelling that I remember them years later. ---

Beck, there were several Straight Dope books. Or maybe he was reading _Do Penguins Have Knees_ so he could scoff. I’ve been a shameless Cecil-worshipper for many years, long before I washed up on this shore. But obviously, I’ve long seen you as a friendly port in the storm. When I was at a computer, was my face inches away from the screen? That’s the way I sit in real life. ---
