There were times I could just barely get WVNY, an ABC affiliate on channel 22.
Yep. We lived 60 miles north of Madison, and had only a B&W VHF-only TV, and a really crappy antenna. From my earliest viewing memories (1965 until about 1971), all I knew was CBS.
The we got a big TV antenna and all the glorious multi-network Green Bay broadcasts were now available! And Wausau’s bonus CBS and ABC channels, just in case there was a blackout of the Packers game.
I grew up about 40 miles from Madison so we got Milwaukee stations also and if you set the antenna just right stations from Rockford Illinois also
Likewise; I was in high school at that time. We lived only a couple of miles from their transmitter, and their signal was still horrible at first.
Mostly, I remember them running the Richard Simmons show a lot, which was awesomely campy.
