(UK) Count Binface might be the next MP!

For some people, that’s cheap advertising. There have been plenty of perennial local candidates (on this side of the pond) that will run for office a few times while they’re getting their personal-services business off the ground (real estate, accounting, whatever). If they can get into a debate or two and talk about how their professional expertise would make them a good candidate, so much the better.

As Count Binface himself once said, “wherever there’s a bin, there’s a fucking fox.”

When is the election scheduled?

13 August.

Does Binface have an actual shot?

The odds are shortening but they still appear to only be around 10%. That said, a lot of punters are putting money on him even at those odds.

The way politics are these days, who even knows.

I sort of got the impression that he got spooked by the possibility that he might actually win, and so he’s not trying as hard now.

Manifesto is out:

Playing all the hits, plus some digs at Farage in particular

There are 34 candidates in the Clacton by election.

The announcement will be a prolonged affair

And they voted to leave the EU Which is much sillier than electing Count Binface

Surely you mean The Peoples Front of Judea

Those bastards

This video explores the history of Count Binface and it’s quite a touching story.

The video suggests that the man behind Count Binface is remembering his late brother who loved comedy and politics.

With all of the interviews and such he’s been getting, have any of them leaned into his schtick? Like, asking him what life is like on his home planet?

I saw one BBC interviewer ask why an intergalactic space warrior would want to represent Clacton.

His response was “WHY NOT?!” - followed by several seconds of silence as the interviewer briefly bluescreened.

But amusing. Who’s running a book on who gets nul points, and whether anyone other than Farage and Binface will save their deposit?

Candidates get their deposit back if they get enough votes, I take it? What’s the threshold, 5%?

Yes 5%. Ans it has to returned no later than the next working day.

I could get behind that platform, especially the idea of lowering my taxes and raising everyone else’s.

But I don’t see another crucial plank announced by Binface, that of securing national protected status for BBC presenter Claudia Winkleman’s bangs.

Cheer up Nige, the orange bellend still loves you.
