What about “One foot in the grave”? Slightly similar to Waiting for God in that it’s about pensioners, but much, much darker.
They re-made One Foot in the Grave in the US as Cosby or something like that starring … well i think you can guess.
From what I saw of it, it did’t have the egde that the original had.
Father Ted is running on my local PBS station. Initially, I was a little offput by it, but now I’m addicted. Was this a big hit it the UK? The episode with all the priests on the plane, and Duncan and the shiny red button was hysterical. The Cosby sitcom didn’t hold a candle to One Foot in the Grave, and it did definitely lack the bitterness of the original.
It seems to me that PBS is rather reticent to embrace more recent Brit Coms. Sure they show As Time Goes By repeatedly and for good reason, but I just can’t see my local affiliate running Bottom. Too bad.
Gobshite!!
Pretty much all my favourites have been covered (are they making another series of The Office?) but Gimme, Gimme, Gimme is another one that’s worth watching, even if it is a bit hit and miss.
Yep new series of The Office on the way. Don’t know when though.
Oh and for anyone interested here’s the official site with clips included.
I wish there would be more episodes of The Vicar of Dibley and The Mrs. Bradley Mysteries. Those shows were really great, IMHO.
