Well, I officially got the coolest hit so far!

**Roy Orbison’s "Only the Lonely."**

The only possibly cooler one would be his “In Dreams.”

27/9/68: _Those Were The Days_ by Mary Hopkin. Missed out on Hey Jude by a week. That’d be because my father had a “Stamp out the Beatles” bumper sticker.

“FERNANDO” BY ABBA?!?

Oh my God, noooo…

Would one of the lucky bastards who got “Band of Gold” care to trade?

Regarding “Band of Gold”, turn on your local golden oldies station and you’ll hear it within a couple of hours. It is one of the twelve song playlist they are all required by law to play. Along with “Me and Bobby McGee”, “Papa Was a Rolling Stone”, “Sittin on the Dock of the Bay”, and “Brandy.”

For me it was “It’s Now or Never” by the King.

Oh, Lord, Phil, tell you sister I feel her pain. “Please Release Me” by Engelbert Humperdinck was still topping the charts a month later when I came along- April 12, 1967. “Gone from the charts but not from our hearts…” Yea, right.

Well, I share a birthdate with **Falcon** and my song with **pldennison** … 2 Nov 1969, “Sugar Sugar” by the Archies.

Mrs. O, born 9 Oct 1960, gets “Tell Laura I Love Her” by Ricky Valance.

And the Tzeroling, born 30 Aug 1993, gets “Mr. Vain” by Culture Beat.

What the hell is this crap? Doomed by being born under spooty No. 1 songs.
