The Ukraine has released a transcript of a call by Donald Trump’s then lawyer Rudy Giuliani on behalf of his client to two Ukrainian officials to try to have Joe Biden and his son Hunter’s business dealings investigated in an effort to get Trump reelected. Giuliani switched between threats and promises to improve the Ukraine’s relations with Trump in the July 2019 phone call, the circumstances of which led to Trump’s first impeachment in 2019. The Ukrainian government says it is now releasing the call in order to establish good relations with the Biden administration.

Zelensky’s government has taken legal action against Giuliani’s Ukrainian associates. And they have opened up to the media about the pressure campaign mounted by Trump and his allies.

I’m seeing ONLY Time Magazine with this story, which (according to Google) broke six hours ago. That raises some questions for me.

But assuming it _is_ a genuine story:

Giuliani going down is the _least_ of what should happen. The Trump Administration “model” of getting things done needs to be put in a spotlight and repudiated on a scale that could induce shame in anyone–even Republicans.

But things being as they are, Giuliani-losing-his-license may be all we get.

“Shame in Republicans “. Ahhh my naive friend. You are asking for that which does not exist.

I do feel sorry for Zelensky, caught in the middle of the Trump shitshow and trying to find whatever course of action was likely to cause the least harm to Ukraine.

It does say “exclusive.” Time Magazine? I can believe they’ve covered their asses.

I’m glad to see Rudy’s BS catching up to him (again).

This Washington Post article from a few weeks ago confirms the story. I don’t think they had the actual transcript at the time, but this article ( which I found because the Time article linked it) discusses the content at length.

I don’t know how this one slipped under my radar. It’s pretty damning- I have long hoped that Zelensky would speak up once Trump was out of office - and it looks like he has.
