I was just thinking this as well
How about “Used to Love Her” - Guns-n-Roses
ETA: I’m pretty sure the OP is just kidding around. And I like how people are saying “don’t do it, but here are some ideas.”
“Black and White” – The dB’s
Da DA DA! - Trio
Ich lieb dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht.
This is Not a Love Song - Public Image Limited, is a great break up song if they are into the music I like. Iknow we aren’t supposed to post lyrics her but it goes something like this:
[repeat]This is not a love song[/repeat]
There might be some other lyrics, but thats all irrelevent. The point they are trying to make is: This is not a love song.
Yes I did. (oops). But then isn’t the question why is he holding on to something 14 years stale?
Can’t go wrong with Lehrer, though. Maybe a little Alanis Morisette “You Oughta Know” or Mary Chapin Carpenter, “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her”.
Incubus - “Oil and Water”
Bad Religion - “Honest Goodbye”
OK Go - “Get Over It”
Linkin Park - “Breaking the Habit”
Actually, in his very first post Saint Cad implies that it’s the girl who keeps holding on past the expiration date. He’s apparently putting together the CD because she “just couldn’t get the hint that it was over”.
Not that I need to justify my request to you but . . .
I was discussing with friend about an ex that held on (stalked) for 2 years after I broke up with her. He said, “You should have sent her a breakup CD.” I replied that
- We didn’t burn our own CDs back then
- Could you even get enough heartless & cruel breakup songs to make a CD?
If anyone could answer #2, it would be the dope
But thank you for implying that I am an asshole without knowing all of the facts.
People imply that I’m an asshole without knowing all the facts all the time. I just have difficultyrebutting their claim as the unknown facts tend to support their over-hasty deductions.
There wasn’t such a concept as “mix tape” then?
Sure, but how to get all of the songs before itunes?
Here are the songs I spin when I’ve been dumped or dump:
Love Stinks – J. Geils
American Woman – The Guess Who or Lenny Kravitz cover
No Time Left for You – Guess Who
Won’t Get Fooled Again – The Who
“don’t leave the light on baby” by belle and sebastian
As long as we’re looking at a mix;
U2 - One (if the other person was very demanding and gave nothing)
and So Cruel
Alanis Morrissette: You Aughta Know (If he left you)
and Not All Me (if you got blamed for everything)
Everclear - Now That It’s Over
Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way
Huey Lewis & The News - If This Is It
Jim Croce - One Less Set Of Footsteps
Natalie Imbruglia - Leave Me Alone
REO Speedwagon - Time For Me To Fly
You drop her a hint that “If you loved me, you’d buy me <album with 1st breakup song>”, “You know what I’d really like? <album with 2nd breakup song>.”, and so forth until you have enough.
Cause that’ll make it all the more painful.
(Psst: It’s Yankovic, not Yankovich.)
Forget About The Boy, from Thoroughly Modern Millie, always appears on the mixes I make for myself post-breakup.
What Is This Feeling? from Wicked is all about loathing, and that was on at least one of the breakup mixes.
Los Angeles, by SUGARCULT, has the lyric “I want a girl that won’t talk back”- so it could work.
“She Ain’t Pretty (She Just Looks That Way)” - Northern Pikes
From Offspring’s Americana CD:
“She’s Got Issues”
and
“Why Don’t You Get a Job”
Both would work in the right situations.
Lucinda Williams “It’s over, I know it but I can’t let go”
Some of those words may be the actual title.
How can a thread like this get past a page without a mention of Usher’s masterpiece “Let it Burn”?
Girl, understand why
See it’s burning me to hold onto this
I know this is something I gotta do
But that don’t mean I want to
What I’m trying to say is that I-love-you I just
I feel like this is coming to an end
And its better for me to let it go now than hold on and hurt you
I gotta let it burn
Got me through some hard times…
