It makes sense now.
None for me. I’ve gotten used to being ugly.

Oh come on. A little tuck here and there? You’d be a regular Jim Nabors!

If I had the money, there are many many horrible problems I’d try to rectify. Post childbirth knee shooters, tummy tuck, a little jowl work…but it’s all just a pipe dream.

Well, as for me, I’m not looking “traveled”, I’m looking like I’ve lost 140lbs. In other words, my body is now a size 16, but my skin is still a size 32. I will be having a tummy tuck done whenever my weight decides to stabilize (every time I think it has, I drop another five pounds out of nowhere). I’ll also petition my insurance company to pay to have my “bat wings” and thighs fixed; they probably won’t, but they might, you never know. Then, whatever plastics they _won’t_ pay for (and I _know_ they’re not gonna spring for a face lift and breast lift and augmentation), I’ll have done out of country where I can _afford_ it!

In other words, no, I don’t need “a little work” done, I need a _lot_ of work done!

My husband got a lapband last year and he’s already lost seventy pounds. When did you start noticing the excess skin? Because aside from some around the belly, I really don’t see it on him. Does he get to be the lucky one who just goes from fat to hot with no side effects? Doesn’t seem fair 🙂 No, but seriously congrats on the weight loss. It baffles me that the skin taking off surgery (technical term) isn’t covered by insurance. It’s not healthy or hygenic to carry that around nor is it possible to lose it naturally. Dumb.

Well, if we’re going to get into it. I used that term because a friend of mine, when visiting my house, saw our very…very..old family cat who’d lost muscle control of his tail, was losing his hair, overweight, had asthma…he was a…trouper. And in trying to find a way to gently say “that cat’s on his way out” he said

“OH Amos…you look like…you’re about done travelin’.”

It was very sweet I felt, with just a hint of “wow that cat’s fallin’ apart.”

This plan may or may not get vetoed by my girlfriend, who I also work with.

Well, how much excess skin, where it’s at, when it’s visible. . .varies wildly from person to person. I know people who’ve lost less weight than me who had to have a lot of excess skin removed from their backs. But I have almost no excess skin on my back. I won’t need surgery there.

My insurance will definitely pay for a tummy tuck, because I have a hernia. But then again, my insurance _rocks_ and would probably pay for the TT just based on skin issues I’ve had.

Also, chances are good _he_ notices these issues more than you do. We’re always most critical of ourselves. Many people look at me and see the weight loss. I look in the mirror and see the sagging boobs, the bat wings, the “scrotal skin” on the inner thighs, etc. etc. etc.

Oh I’m sure of it. But he’s also very worried/conscious of it, and he hasn’t mentioned it yet…granted he has about fifty pounds to go, but I just wonder if he’s going to luck out, particularly in the face. I’ve seen how huge weightloss can really make someone look OLD and … well, traveled.

I had botox injected in my balls a year or so ago (they were all wrinkled). I posted about it here. I’d linky-link, but I’m posting from my phone and haven’t figured out how to copy and paste. Maybe some enterprising doper would be kind enough to dig up my thread and post a link. Or not. Either way, my balls are smooth and shiny.

Just out of curiosity–is there anything a person can do to minimize the excess-skin-after-huge-weight-loss problem before and during the time in which the weight loss is happening?

Not as far as I’ve been able to find out. If you are relatively young, if the excess weight is a relatively “recent” development, if you’ve never had babies, these things will all help. Also, the skin _will_ “tighten up” some on its own, over time. But anyone who loses significant amounts of weight will, inevitably (AFAIK) end up with skin issues.

Should this be the year that I manage to lose significant amounts of fat, and should next year continue in the same direction (I think allotting two years to lose a lot of weight shows maturity and a realistic outlook)…

Well, should I find myself living in a world where I weigh less than 120 pounds, I would certainly be up for a tummy tuck. I don’t think my tummy could ever bounce back from the weight I’ve lost and gained over my life.

I’m hesitant to touch my face–I like my face, and I’ve seen too much on “Awful Plastic Surgery Dot Com”, but I’d consider cosmetic dentistry, too.

Tummy tuck and improving my teeth. I’d do that. But until I’ve lost and kept weight off, I don’t see the point, and I’d also like to buy a house some time before I die.

I figure to feel sexy with excess tummy skin, I’ll try black corsets. Would that work? Corsets and stockings?
